George H. Büchi, Camile and Henry Dreyfus professor of chemistry, was the recipient of the Killian Award in 1990–1991. At that time, a colleague described him “as one of the best scientists at MIT, and one of the most human.” The award citation read: “George H. Büchi, MIT faculty member for nearly 40 years, has set an unprecedented standard in organic chemistry.
