Hans-Lukas Teuber came to MIT in 1961 after gaining worldwide recognition as a leader in psychology and neuroscience. Just before his death in 1977, he had been selected as the next Killian Lecturer.

Professor Teuber “founded MIT’s Department of Psychology, which evolved into the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. Teuber was one of the most influential neuropsychologists of his generation, and his vision for the MIT department was a major influence on the establishment of neuroscience as a field.” Full text at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences
